The powerful and moving play The Laramie Project comes to the New Bern Civic Theatre this fall, opening on Friday, September 26, 2025, under the direction of Siobhan Brewer.
Written by Moisés Kaufman and members of the Tectonic Theater Project, The Laramie Project chronicles the true story of the people of Laramie, Wyoming, in the aftermath of the 1998 murder of Matthew Shepard, a young gay man whose death became a catalyst for a national conversation about hate, intolerance, and acceptance. Through dozens of real interviews with residents, the play weaves together voices of grief, anger, reflection, and ultimately, hope.
