ROTARY CLUB OF NEW BERN BREAKFAST INSTALLS NEW 2025-26 PRESIDENT

Dave Super was recently installed as the 2025-26 President of the Rotary Club of New Bern Breakfast at the Annual Dinner held at the Chelsea Restaurant. District Governor Gene Foster inducted the new President and his Board members, and outgoing President, Clifton Pike was recognized for his service and the club’s accomplishments during the last Rotary year. Winners of this year’s Major Todd S. Denson Memorial Scholarship, named after a former club member and Marine pilot of an AV-8B Harrier that crashed in 2008, were announced. The five students receiving a $1,000 scholarship are Christopher Behrendt (Christopher will be attending Mount Olive University to pursue a degree in Health Science), Lily Bettcher (Lily will be attending Christendom College to pursue a degree in Theology), Mackenzie Richardson (Mackensie will be attending Campbell University to pursue a degree in Special Education), Heather Santos (Heather will be attending East Carolina University to pursue a double major in Business and Music Therapy ), and Katie Myers (Katie will be attending the University of North Carolina majoring in Business Management and Administration). In addition, a $1,000 Don Masch Memorial Nursing Scholarship at Craven Community College was presented to Kay’la Smith. The club was pleased to offer two Community Leadership Awards this year. Mitch Lewis, Founder of Arts to End Genocide, was presented with the Non-Profit Sector Community Service Award, and the Business Sector Community Service Award to Pete Frey current owner of Brewery 99. The Rotary Club of New Bern Breakfast, chartered in 1985 as an offshoot of the Rotary Club of New Bern, meets on Thursday mornings from 7:30 to 8:30 AM at Ghent Sandwich Shop, 1914 Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd. Their signature community service project is Kicks-4-Kids which provides approximately 375 pairs of shoes to elementary and middle school students throughout Craven County each November. Several other nonprofit organizations and charities also receive Club support each year because of their popular annual fundraiser, the B/S/H/Oktoberfest, which is scheduled for September 27, 2025, at the Riverfront Convention Center.
