Craven Arts Council & Gallery and the Havelock Cultural Arts Advisory Committee invite the community to join in the creation of two new murals on the restrooms at Havelock City Park, 198 Cunningham Blvd on October 18th, during the Havelock Chili Festival. Painting hours will be held from 10am-3pm. Designed by Craven Arts and the Cultural Arts Committee, the project will feature two images across three walls of the restroom facility. Two walls will feature a vintage postcard style “Greetings from Havelock” design, with letters featuring images from the city and its history. The third wall will feature bird, jet, and butterfly wings at various heights, creating a photo opportunity for public to interact with the design.
Painting will take place all day during the Havelock Chilli Festival. Members of the community are invited to participate in the painting of the mural, which will be outlined ahead of time, creating a large-scale paint by numbers. Participation is free, but all participants will need to complete a wavier on site. Craven Arts Council & Gallery will provide paint, brushes, and other supplies for the project.
Craven Arts Council & Gallery is currently seeking sponsorships for this project. Sponsorships start at $50, and will be made through Craven Arts Council’s Art in Public Places program, which seeks to enhance the cultural vibrancy of our community through community based public art, and are tax deductible.
