MumFest Kick Off

The award-winning fall festival, MumFest, is kicking off its annual celebration in historic Downtown New Bern beginning on October 4 with our feasting in the streets event, MumFeast, leading up to the main event, MumFEST, on October 12-13!

At MumFeast on Friday, October 4, the streets in downtown New Bern will be closed to vehicular traffic, so pedestrians can enjoy an evening of outdoor dining at Cypress Hall, Baxter’s and The Chelsea. Sam Lewis will be performing live from the stage at Middle and Pollock. Food trucks will include Tanja’s Hella Fat Food, Nacho Shack, Broad Street Takeout, Capone’s A Taste of Philly and El Taco Loco. New this year is the Brewery 99 beer garden featuring their exclusive local brews! Craven Community College Volt Center will providing a gourmet cooking demonstration. All of this and local shopping will be available from 5:00pm – 9:00pm!

And then comes the BIG event! During MumFEST on October 12-13, Swiss Bear and the City of New Bern will welcome over 250 vendors with handmade arts and crafts, commercial, non-profit, local businesses and an amazing 35 food vendors featuring cuisine from all around the world! This year MumFEST features three stages with live music throughout the heart of downtown New Bern with no less than 15 bands! In addition to live music, audiences will enjoy spectacular performers including the ProTown BMX Team, the Purina Daredevil Dog Team, the Kenya Safari Acrobats, circus street performer Mark Lippard, as well as exciting carnival rides and games!

The live music stages are the Flight by Yuengling Beer Garden sponsored by Coastal Beverage located at Pollock and Craven next to City Hall, The Visit New Bern Stage at Middle Street and Pollock and Howard’s Stage on Middle and S. Front Street. Visitors can enjoy the beer garden and listen to music all around the city while shopping a wide variety of quality vendors and downtown stores.

The organizers of the festival are keeping us all safe with a touchless festival program available through QR codes on signs throughout the festival.
 
Schedule of Events/Timeline for Saturday, October 12th:
10 am: Festival opens with Live Music and Vendors
11am: Flight by Yuengling Beer Garden with Live Music opens
6:30 pm: Vendors close
7pm: Flight by Yuengling Beer Garden closes
8 pm: Amusement rides close
 
Schedule of Events/Timeline for Sunday, October 13th:
10 am: Festival reopens with Live Music and Vendors
11:30am: Flight by Yuengling Beer Garden reopens
5pm: Festival closes for 2024
 
Free remote parking and shuttle service is provided by the City of New Bern from Lawson Creek Park to the MumFest entrance at Broad and Hancock. The shuttle runs Saturday October 12 from 9:30 am to 8:30 pm and Sunday October 13 from 9:30 am to 5:30 pm.
 
Downtown streets close at 5pm on Friday, October 11 through 8pm Sunday October 13.  All cars must be off the streets before 5pm Friday.
