A Mason Duet: Color, Movement, and Mark-Marking by Georgia & Nicola Mason

Craven Arts Council & Gallery presents a joint 2D art exhibition from mother-daughter duo

Craven Arts Council & Gallery is proud to present the works of mother and daughter artists, Georgia and Nicola Mason in A Mason Duet: Color, Movement, and Mark-Making. The exhibition will feature 2D abstract displays, as the duo showcases their mixed media layered in colorful shapes, lines, and arcs. A reception will be held during Artwalk on Friday, February 13, 2026 from 5 – 8 pm at Bank of the Arts, open to the public, featuring new artworks, artists, and complimentary beverages.

Georgia Mason was born in Louisiana, but resides in eastern North Carolina, an award-winning artist of numerous competitions, awards, and other honors across the state and country. She is a signature member of the National Watercolor Society, Watercolor Society of North Carolina, and several other artist organizations. Nicola Mason was born in Florida and currently works in Cincinnati, OH, where she is a publisher for Acre Books, which publishes poetry, fiction, and nonfiction works. Her work has been exhibited across a number of galleries and exhibitions. In addition to her paintings, she also works in sculpture and is an accomplished writer, and has received fellowships from the National Endowment for the Arts, and the Louisiana Division of the Arts.

In A Mason Duet: Color, Movement, and Mark-Making, the techniques used by the duo showcases the creation of bold, colorful, and abstract works. Both artists create abstract and impressionistic works that express their creative process and mind, inviting the viewer to study the worked surfaces and hinted forms within the artworks to find their meaning.
