Director’s Gallery: Mum’s the Word 2026

Craven Arts Council & Gallery (CAC&G) is proud to present their annual exhibition in conjunction with Mumfest, Mum’s the Word, in the Director’s Gallery for the month of October. Each piece in the exhibition features chrysanthemums, with one work to be selected for the 2027 Mumfest logo. CAC&G will host a reception during the October ArtWalk from 5 – 8 pm on Friday, October 9 th at Bank of the Arts.

New Bern’s annual Mumfest brings thousands of visitors to the downtown area for fun, shopping, and entertainment. As part of the festival, Craven Arts Council & Gallery will host Mum’s the Word, an art exhibition and contest to select artwork for the upcoming years’ Mumfest. The winner will
receive $200 and their piece will be featured on t - shirts, bags, banners, and other promotional items for the 2027 celebration. This exhibition and contest is open to beginner and advanced artists of all ages for submission, featuring an opportunity for both the adult category and youth category to be eligible for a prize. Artwork is not limited to chrysanthemums, but must feature chrysanthemums in some way. Artists are asked to register their pieces online at www.cravenarts.org and drop off artwork to Bank of the Arts on October 2 nd & 3 rd 10 am to 5 pm.
