December Jolly Holiday Events at New Bern Civic Theatre

New Bern Civic Theatre has four upcoming Jolly Holiday Season events offering great opportunities to gather with family and friends this December. First up on Friday, December 6^th at 7:30PM 'Home for the Holidays'  takes to The Athens stage starring Broadway veteran and worldwide entertainer, Kristin Wetherington. This is a perfect event for young and old alike, similar to a variety show holiday TV special with a star/host accompanied by live musicians, singers and dancers.    
 
Next, on December 7^th it's comedy night as New Bern’s best (and only) Improv Comedy Team, Walk-In Bathtub, lampoons holiday season madness and celebrates National Letter Writing Day! What will be suggested after, “Dear Santa,” is anyone’s guess. It’s all part of the amusement with improvised comedy where suggestions from the audience add to the performance. Note this event is rated [R] due to the unpredictable nature of improv comedy and is intended for adult audiences. Showtime is 7:30PM.
 
The following weekend, December 13^th, is a holiday movie experience that brings Bruce Willis in ‘Die Hard’ back to the big screen where it belongs. The movie starts at 8:00PM but doors open at 7:00PM for pre-show activities that include costume contests, the McClane Games, an oversized Teddy Bear, Twinkies, ventilation shaft races and many fun photo ops. Experience ‘Die Hard’ with a premium sound system, Ultra High-Def projection and fellow fans of this holiday cinema classic! And, it's Cinema Drafthouse style so you can enjoy old fashioned popcorn with a cold beer or beverage from the bar. This film is Rated [R].

Officially closing NBCT’s Encores Series and the 2024 theatre season is New Bern’s favorite string band, The Bonafides, who pay tribute to the famed Jerry Garcia. This may not technically qualify as a "holiday" themed event, but December 14^th is the highly anticipated rescheduled date for their previously postponed 2024 concert at The Athens. Garcia’s music is iconic and the show is certain to be the favorite holiday gift to yourself or anyone on your gift list who loves great music. The concert begins at 7:30PM.
