Craven CC Hosts Fundraiser to Support Mayland CC in Hurricane Recovery

In response to devastating flooding and wind damage in western North Carolina, Craven Community College (Craven CC) has started a fundraising drive for Mayland Community College (Mayland CC) to aid in recovery efforts.

Mayland CC, located in the small town of Spruce Pine, NC, was completely devastated by the impact of Hurricane Helene. With a population of just over 2,200, Spruce Pine is only 50 miles from Asheville. Like most other mountain communities in western NC, it is ill-equipped to handle destruction from flooding and high winds.

Several of Mayland's faculty, staff, and students have lost everything, and the campus remains closed indefinitely as the damage is assessed. At this time, there are still a lot of uncertainties regarding how to move forward and what supplies are needed most.

As a sister college in the North Carolina Community College System, Craven CC has "adopted" Mayland CC in an effort to help them reopen their doors and support their community. All community members are invited to provide monetary support so Mayland CC can disperse funds where they are needed the most. Every donation makes a difference!

Contributions will go through the Craven CC Foundation and will be transferred in full to Mayland CC. Donate now at CravenCC.edu/HurricaneRelief.
