Craven Arts Council & Gallery (CACG) is proud to host Peer Inside My Head by Jeanne May, a solo exhibition on display in the Director’s Gallery of the Bank of the Arts for the month of June. Peer Inside My Head is a series created by oil painter Jeanne May inspired by Emily Dickinson’s poem, The Pedigree of Honey. An open reception will be held at Artwalk on June 12th from 5 – 8 pm at Bank of the Arts, inviting the public to meet the artist, view the full display, and more.
Peer Inside My Head will feature oil paintings with chaotic textures of honeycombs and oil sticks, contrasted with the boldness of the flowers serving as a metaphor for how individuals perceive their own value. Jeanne May is a self-taught artists based in Stella, North Carolina. Jeanne actively develops her craft through workshops, open studios, and critique sessions with established artists, both locally and internationally. Her work visually explores themes of solitude, resilience, and self-determination. In 2025, her paintings were featured in American Art Collector and Artist Talk magazines, as well as exhibition catalogs for 33 Contemporary Gallery and PoetsArtists.
