The 2024 holiday travel season is expected to be one of the busiest nationwide, and Coastal Carolina Regional Airport (EWN) is excited to welcome an increase in passenger traffic after an inspiring year of growth, including the launch of a new airline, major terminal improvements, and increased service over last season, adding 76 extra flights with 7,000 additional seats.
The Transportation Security Administration (TSA) is also preparing for a high volume of travelers nationwide, expecting increased passenger screenings from Thanksgiving through New Year’s. At EWN, travelers will find shorter wait times and more efficient TSA processing thanks to the airport's newly implemented technology, giving a smooth start to their holiday journey.
“Our goal at Coastal Carolina Regional Airport has always been to prioritize ease and convenience for our community,” said Airport Director Andrew Shorter. “We encourage travelers to choose EWN as their starting point for their holiday travel.”
Benefits of Flying Local out of EWN:
- Convenient, easy-access parking right in front of the terminal
- Shorter lines
- Arrive early to breeze through TSA, then relax in the newly renovated terminal with free Wi-Fi
- Enjoy food and drinks at Triple Play Oasis Restaurant and Sports Bar
- Easy drive home from the airport after your trip
“As the region continues to thrive, Coastal Carolina Regional Airport remains committed to being an essential part of your travel plans. With expanded options for holiday flights on our partner airlines, American and Breeze, we look forward to continuing to serve our community's evolving needs,” added Shorter.
To ensure a stress-free travel experience, EWN encourages passengers to check with their airline for any updates prior to arriving at the airport. Also, be sure to download the Airline’s “App” to your smart device and check-in for your flight before arriving at the airport, up to 24 hours prior.
New Bern tourism partners are hopeful many visitors will fly into EWN this holiday season to experience the region’s unique holiday charm. New Bern and Eastern North Carolina come alive with seasonal cheer, offering an array of festive activities and local events.
“New Bern and Eastern North Carolina are truly magical during the holiday season,” said Melissa Riggle, Executive Director of Visit New Bern. “By inviting loved ones to fly into EWN, not only do you give them the gift of convenience and comfort, but you also showcase the region’s warm holiday spirit and support our vibrant local businesses and events.”
