Bank of the Arts, 317 Middle Street
April 10 th & 11th

Craven Arts Council & Gallery strives to create an environment where the arts are open and accessible to all members of our community. This April, Craven Arts Council & Gallery is proud to host the Coastal Carolina Chapter of the National Association of the Blind, as they host two informative and interactive events at Bank of the Arts. On Friday, April 10, 5 – 8 pm during Artwalk, the association will have an informative table and on Saturday, April 11, from 11 am – 2 pm, visitors will be invited to participate in hands-on learning activities free of charge.

During the ArtWalk on Friday, April 10, members of the Coastal Carolina Chapter of the National Federation of the Blind of North Carolina will share educational brochures, distribute swag items, and host an interactive Q&A session to engage attendees in meaningful conversation about blindness and independence. On Saturday, April 11, visitors will have the opportunity to experience hands-on learning activities, including demonstrations on how to read and write Braille. Participants can also navigate a white cane obstacle course using
blindfolds or simulation glasses to better understand nonvisual travel techniques. In addition, we will discuss disability etiquette—highlighting helpful “Do’s and Don’ts”—and offer opportunities to try on visually impaired simulation glasses to foster awareness and understanding.
