CAROLINAEAST FOUNDATION AWARDS THE 2025 NURSING SCHOLARSHIPS TO AREA STUDENTS

The CarolinaEast Foundation recently awarded $63,000 in nursing scholarships to local students. These scholarships are made possible through the Foundation’s Joseph Hageman Memorial Nursing Scholarship Fund, Robert and Beatrice Honnet Nursing Scholarship Fund, and David Elliott Nursing Scholarship.

The recipients were celebrated along with other recognized nurses at the annual Joseph Hageman Nursing Scholarship Dinner at the Flame Catering and Banquet Center on June 11. Three nursing scholarships in the amount of $8,000 were presented to students pursuing Bachelor of Science degrees in Nursing: Brooke Cumbo, Tailynn Turner, and Madelyn Vogan. Four scholarships of $3,500 were presented to students pursuing an Associate of Applied Science degree in Nursing: Kendall Harris, Shineka Grice, Kelsey Roach, and Carolyn Bright. Two scholarships of $3,000 were presented to Maria Howard and Diann Jones, who are pursuing a Practical Nursing diploma. Four scholarships of $3,500 were awarded to CarolinaEast Health System nurses pursuing an advanced degree in nursing: Katie Carson, Alfredo Saucedo Gonzalez, Hannah Lopez, and Nanette Rupke. Finally, one $5,000 scholarship was rewarded to a previous recipient of the Hageman Scholarship, Stephanie Futh, who is currently pursuing her Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree.

“We are so thankful for our donors and sponsors for providing the Foundation with the financial resources to invest in our community nurses,” said Jared Brinkley, Executive Director of the CarolinaEast Foundation. “The CarolinaEast Foundation is committed to supporting our nurses through education in order to continue to be the safety net for our healthcare community.”

Since the first scholarship of its kind was given in 2007, a total of $579,500 has been awarded to 156 nursing students.
