Born and raised in San Francisco, Jerome “Jerry” Garcia was a musical prodigy of the 1960s. Receiving his first guitar at 15 years old, Jerry was introduced to open-tuning style by his step-father, and three years later, began his music career by performing with local artists of the Bay area. Known as a principal songwriter, lead guitarist and vocalist for both Grateful Dead and the Jerry Garcia Band, Garcia’s electric and often improvised guitar riffs enchanted both crowds and industry peers. Garcia experimented with folk, bluegrass, electronic music, old-timey ballads, country, and reggae throughout his 30 year career. In 1994, Jerry Garcia was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame as a member of Grateful Dead, a year before his passing. Some of Jerry’s famous songs include “Sugaree”, “Uncle John’s Band”, and “It Must Have Been the Roses”.

The Bonafides are made up of a group of friends based out of New Bern, North Carolina. With acoustic and electric guitars, mandolin, fiddle, bass, drums, banjo, and more, their musical tastes range far and wide. All nine members of the Bonafides possess a unique set of skills and instruments that they bring to every performance.
