A Wonderful Night With Baby Kangaroos

The first “Roos & Brews” in mid-October was a huge and delightful success. Together, over forty guests attended to cuddle baby kangaroos and raise $2,800 to benefit Hesed Place, a local nonprofit offering support and innovative ENGAGE programs to adults who have experienced trauma to learn practical tools for healing.

Special thanks are given to some of the wonderful folks who made this first “Roos & Brews” evening so special - Allison Hudson of Happy Hopper Event Company for generously donating her time and adorable baby kangaroos that were immediately loved by everyone; Nannette Garrett, for sharing her musical talents to provide the perfect soundtrack during the evening; and Mark and Judy, owners of ineffable wine & beer garden, who were perfect hosts to create such a welcoming space.

Additional and grateful appreciation is extended to local businesses and community members who donated a delicious selection of refreshments, raffle prizes, and volunteer time to support the event, including Food Lion (James City), Harris Teeter (Carolina Colours), Gina’s Pizza, Sara’s Pizza, La Casetta, Blackbeard’s Restaurant, Fun Essentials Boutique, Finn’s Physical Therapy, and Enhanced Aesthetics.

The next HOPe for HESED: Kindness & Kangaroos event is planned for December 17, at The Gardens at Issac Taylor House. This family friendly event will include keepsake photos with Santa. More details will be announced soon. In the meantime, you can support Hesed Place by joining us for “Bingo & Blessings” on November 13 at 6:30 pm at Hesed’s Journey Center, 2619 Trent Road, New Bern.
