Tried By Fire, Inc. is pleased to share that the 4th Annual Sandy Valentine Par-Tea will be held on Saturday, September 6, 2025, from 2:00 to 4:00 pm, at The Harrison Center on Middle Street. This traditional English afternoon tea includes delicious finger sandwiches, an assortment of pastries, freshly baked scones with fruit jams, and a selection of fine teas. Guests are encouraged to bring their own teacup and share its story at the table, but there will also be dozens of beautiful China teacups available to choose from. Hats are not required, but they are definitely fun and add a special elegance to the event.
Initiated by former New Bern resident Sandy Valentine in 2022, this popular event will again benefit My Sister’s House, a transitional home in New Bern to help justice-involved women enjoy a safe and non-judgmental home environment from which they can build a better future through individualized supportive programs for a successful and sustainable reentry back into the community. Since opening in October 2023, My Sister’s House has provided women with safe housing and referrals to existing community resources for counseling, job training and employment readiness programs, and other services appropriate to their specific needs and reentry goals.
“Moving to the Harrison Center allows us to increase the number of guests we hope will enjoy this special event for an important resource here in New Bern,” said Kathy Hamilton, one of the hosts for the afternoon tea party. “We hope there will be a good response from area businesses and individuals to join us for our exceptional afternoon to support post-incarcerated women,” she added.
Tickets for the Annual Sandy Valentine Afternoon Par-Tea are $50 per person or $400 for a table of 8. Reservations or Donations with Regrets can be purchased at www.triedbyfireinc.org/events or by sending a check to Committee Member Deedra Durocher at 1704 High Street, New Bern NC 28560.
