Job Description Summary
The Director of Technology is responsible for the strategic planning, development, implementation, management, and support of all technology systems and infrastructure across the organization. This role ensures that technology aligns with the organization's goals while maintaining a secure, efficient, and cost-effective IT environment. The Director provides leadership in managing the Windows environment, server virtualization, device management, and various software platforms, including the Student Information System (SIS).
Essential Responsibilities
Strategic Planning:
- Develop and implement short- and long-term technology plans aligned with organizational goals.
- Forecast technology trends and recommend improvements.
- Oversee the Windows environment, including Active Directory, Group Policy, and Windows Server administration.
- Manage server virtualization platforms.
- Ensure the reliable operation of networking systems, phone systems, and related hardware/software integrations.
- Develop and manage the technology department budget.
- Plan for and procure hardware, software, and services to support technology initiatives.
- Experience in cybersecurity, specifically in threat detection, incident response, and threat intelligence.
- Proven track record of mitigating cyber threats and managing security incidents.
- Ability to secure student information according to FERPA, COPPA, and CIPA.
- Identify points of risk and remediate any potential for data breach and unauthorized child communications.
- Oversee the school’s compliance with online activity for students of all ages.
- App, program, and activity vetting to ensure compliance.
- Oversee the implementation and maintenance of various software solutions used organization-wide.
- Manage the Student Information System (SIS) platform to ensure seamless operation and integration with other systems.
- Oversee the management and deployment of computing devices across the organization.
- Ensure compliance and tracking of all software licensing agreements.
- Develop and maintain a comprehensive inventory of technology assets.
- Implement asset tracking systems to manage lifecycle and replacement planning.
- Provide staff with training and resources on effective technology use.
- Oversee technical support to ensure prompt resolution of technology issues.
- Collaborate with leadership, faculty, and staff to support instructional and operational technology needs.
- Communicate technology initiatives and changes clearly across the organization.
