Housing Inspector

General Statement of the Position
The Housing Inspector is a member of the Housing Choice Voucher (HCV) Program staff. This position is responsible for ensuring Housing Quality Standards (HQS) inspection requirements are met in a timely manner pursuant to Housing & Urban Development HUD Housing Choice Voucher HCV Program requirements. The Inspector is responsible for maintaining an auditable record of all inspection actions.

Duties and Responsibilities
1. Schedule and perform inspections in a timely manner to comply with requirements by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD).
2. Establish and maintain effective working relationships with property owners/landlords and/or agents.
3. Responsible for maintaining records regarding inspections in a computer database and in case files.
4. Performs other duties as required and assigned.

Skills, and Abilities
1. Ability to use good judgment and work independently with minimum supervision.
2. Requires the ability to work effectively with a diverse group of people. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers, landlords, tenants and the public.
3. Other duties as assigned.

Education, Experience, and Licenses
1. Requires a valid North Carolina driver's license with a good driving record.
2. Associates degree or equivalent job experience
