ROTARY HOSTS ART & SURPRISES EVENT TO SUPPORT HABITAT BUILD PROJECT

The New Bern Breakfast Rotary Club will host "Art & Surprises" on May 9, 2024, at the New Bern Golf & Country Club from 6:00 to 9:00 pm. All proceeds from this unique fundraising event will benefit the Greater New Bern Rotary Club's Habitat Build Project, a partnership with Habitat for Humanity of Craven County.

Tickets are $50 and limited to 100 guests who will enjoy an evening of socializing, music, refreshments, cash bar, and a guaranteed opportunity to select a piece of original art, or a "surprise" bag, to take home!

Additionally, guests may purchase one of 300 tickets for a 50/50 Raffle at $50 each that offers five prizes ranging from $3,500 to $400. The drawing will take place at Rotary’s Annual Dinner Meeting on June 27 and winners need not be present.

“We have been pleased to receive donated art pieces from local artists representing different media, as well as pieces from personal collections, to provide every ticket holder a chance to pick something on display,” said Rotarian Deedra Durocher and coordinator of the event. “This is different from an art auction because the price of each ticket assures each guest an item of their own choosing. If they want to negotiate a trade with someone else, that is up to them but not required.” Art items will include oils, watercolors, acrylics, photography, pottery, glass, jewelry, and more. Surprise bags may hold gift certificates, smaller pieces of art, bottles of wine or another wonderful treat. Tickets for the Art & Surprises event can be purchased online at https://bit.ly/NBBRArtParty?r=qr, and for the 50/50 Raffle at https://bit.ly/NBBR5050?r=qr, or by contacting Deedra Durocher at deedra.rotary7720@gmail.com or by text or call to 252-670-1907.

The New Bern Rotary Club and New Bern Breakfast Rotary Club have partnered with Habitat for Humanity of Craven County with a commitment to raise $50,000 and 2,000 hours of volunteer labor to build the 80th Habitat home at 2308 Aycock Avenue in the Pembroke Community. Since the Groundbreaking Ceremony on January 20, 2024, the home is already 54% completed. Rotarians from both clubs continue to volunteer at the build site, at the ReStore, and on planning committees to make sure the project is on budget and on schedule. “This project is an extension of every Rotarian’s motto for “Service Above Self,” said Ms. Durocher.
