Habitat for Humanity of Craven County addresses housing crisis with ''Home Sweet Home'' campaign

Habitat for Humanity of Craven County (HFHCC) is launching its "Home Sweet Home" fundraising campaign to help build its next two-bedroom Habitat family home.

The campaign, which began in November, will run through June 2026 and will address a critical community need: 28% of people in Craven County are cost-burdened, spending more than 30% of their income on housing.

Funds raised through the "Home Sweet Home" campaign will go towards the construction of a new home in New Bern’s Pembroke community at 2208 Hartford Avenue. The project will mark the eleventh Habitat home to be constructed in the Pembroke community and will be a single-story two-bedroom. HFHCC’s construction staff and volunteers are currently putting the finishing touches on another two-story home at 2202 Hartford Avenue.

“It’s more than getting together to build a house. As a community, we can help build someone’s story of homeownership and hope,” said HFHCC Executive Director Tracey Lilly. “Help us with this build by making a monetary gift of any amount, by volunteering your time, or by donating gently used items to the Habitat ReStore.”

Donations of any amount can be made to the "Home Sweet Home" campaign and will be applied to the structured giving levels that represent different stages of the home-building process. The process to HFHCC’s goal of $150,000 will be announced along the way. Each donation will bring a deserving family one step closer to the stability and security of homeownership.
