Habitat for Humanity Announces the Appointment of New Board

Habitat for Humanity of Craven County announced today the appointment of Debra Barbour to the board of directors.

Debra Barbour is a Solutions Advisor with Beryl Benefit Group, Inc. out of Asheville, NC providing worksite benefits and human capital solutions. “Educating businesses on the importance of benefits in recruiting, retention, and cost management can make a significant impact on both employers and employees. It helps create a more supportive and competitive workplace environment,” said Barbour.Both Debra and husband Tony are NC natives. They were both raised in Eastern NC and desired to retire near the coast. A job opportunity for Tony brought them here a little early, allowing them to settle in New Bern. When not working, they enjoy participating in various New Bern activities, spending time with family and being empty nesters. A regular Habitat ReStore shopper, Debra also enjoys volunteering at Habitat’s home building projects. “I am excited to serve as a Habitat for Humanity of Craven County Board Member and utilize my specialized skills and experiences to help benefit the Board’s work,” said Barbour.

Board Chair and President, Rose MacNeal stated, “We are pleased to have Debra serve on our Board. She has a true passion for our mission and vision, having served as a volunteer at the ReStore, and at our building sites and our fundraisers. She has a wealth of knowledge, especially in the retail sector, which will be a great benefit to our Affiliate as she will also serve as a member of the Habitat ReStore Committee.”
