3pm-5pm, Various Dates in August & September
Craven Arts Council & Gallery is proud to host a Figure Drawing Drop-In Sessions, hosted by local artist Courtney Durocher. These low-cost sessions will offer artists the opportunity to sketch, paint or create from poses by a live, semi-clothed model. with upcoming sessions scheduled for August 12, 26, and September 9 , and 23 rd . The cost will be $5 for members and $10 for nonmembers of Craven Arts Council & Gallery. Artists will pay at the door and registration is encouraged but not required.
Due to the success and high attendance of the May, June, and July courses, Craven Arts Council is extending these sessions into the summer and fall, continuing to offer foundational skills for both beginning and experienced artists. Figure drawing builds fundamental drawing skills, observational ability, and understanding of movement, gesture, and the human form. Sessions start with 1–5 minutes poses for quick, gestural sketches, extending to longer poses for more detailed study and works. These provide practice for the artist, and can be the foundation for later works.
Sessions will be led by Courtney Durocher, a local artist with experience in physical and digital media, specializing in illustration and comics. Durocher will provide instruction and feedback to upon request, and lead sessions. The sessions are open to all artists and mediums.
Artists should bring their own materials, paper, easels, and other tools, though some easels will be available for use. Participants may find out more at www.cravenarts.org.
Bank of the Arts is home of the Craven Arts Council and Gallery, open 10am-5pm Tuesday through Saturday, and admission to all galleries is free and open to the public.
