Director’s Gallery: Shining Through the Years

Craven Arts Council & Gallery presents stained glass group exhibition from local senior center

September 2026

Craven Arts Council & Gallery (CAC&G) presents a stained-glass exhibition featuring artwork from local senior center, The Viridian, in their Director’s Gallery for the month of September. The exhibition is titled Shining Through the Years, featuring framed stained-glass portraits showcasing the resident’s modern expressions of nostalgic and valued memories. This exhibition opens on September 11, from 5 – 8 pm during the September Artwalk at Bank of the Arts, where the local community is invited to view, meet the artists, and purchase stained glass artworks created by residents of The Viridian.

Nestled within the vibrant Carolina Colours community, The Viridian is a premier senior living community offering both Independent and Assisted Living in a resort-style setting. Minutes away from downtown New Bern, they provide engaging activities and the perfect blend of care, comfort, and
connection. The Assisted Living is designed to provide personalized support while empowering residents to live as independently as possible. It is a warm, nurturing environment where our seniors' unique talents and passions can truly thrive. Aligning with one of CAC&G’s core mission values, creating an environment where the arts thrive, CAC&G is proud to host this exhibition, promoting art and inclusivity from groups and members of all ages in our community.

Shining Through the Years will be split in two themes; suns, and chrysanthemums ahead of Swiss Bear’s annual fall festival, MumFest. The exhibition will include work from Viridian residents: Carol Ann Lynch, Alice Irene Dick, Eugenia Fay Wade, and more. Throughout the exploration of bold colors and inspired by resident’s personal memories and joy, visit Bank of the Arts this September to see stained glass artworks from a local senior center, providing a platform for artists of all ages.

Bank of the Arts is home of the Craven Arts Council & Gallery, open Tuesday through Saturday, 10
am – 5 pm.
