Director’s Gallery October: Mum’s the Word

Craven Arts Council & Gallery is proud to present Mum’s the Word in the Director’s Gallery for the month of October. Each piece in the exhibition features Chrysanthemums, with one work to be selected for the 2026 Mumfest logo. Craven Arts Council will host a reception during the October ArtWalk from 5 – 8 pm on Friday, October 10th.

New Bern’s annual Mumfest brings thousands of visitors to the downtown area for fun, shopping, and entertainment. As part of the festival, Craven Arts Council & Gallery will host Mum’s the Word, an art exhibition and contest to select artwork for the next year’s Mumfest. The winner will receive $200 and their piece will be featured on t - shirts, bags, banners, and other promotional items for the 2026 celebration. This exhibition and contest is open to all ages for submission, featuring an opportunity for both the adult category and youth category to be eligible for a prize. Artwork is not limited to chrysanthemums, but must feature chrysanthemums in some way. Artists are asked to register their pieces online at www.cravenarts.org and drop off artwork to Bank of the Arts on September 26th and 27th, 10 am to 5 pm. Entries cannot exceed 24” in any direction and may not feature any text or numbers. For more information visit www.cravenarts.org.
