Director’s Gallery: Chris Bennett

Craven Arts Council & Gallery is proud to present the artwork of local artist Chris Bennett for the month of April. Bennett is a former educator and works in contemporary styles, blending tradition and innovation. A reception for his artworks will be held at Artwalk on April 11th at 5 – 8 pm, where patrons can view his display and engage directly with the artist.

As an artist who prefers the artwork to speak for itself, Chris Bennett is a lifelong artist and a recently retired art educator at New Bern High School. Bennett’s recent work reflects in his new inspirations in pop surrealism, humor, and social commentary. His work can best be described as featuring cartoonist styles, eccentrics, iconography, and deep pulls on art history to inspire his work. Often using bold colors, his artwork titles often include a play of the subject matter.

Admission to all galleries at Bank of Arts are free and open to public, Tuesday through Saturday from 10am to 5pm. For more information regarding current and upcoming exhibitions, please visit cravenarts.org or email info@cravenarts.org.
