Located in the heart of downtown New Bern at 335 Middle Street, The Chelsea Restaurant has been operating in the historic Stanly Building since 1991 serving classic American fine dining. From Firehouse to Landmark showcases historic origins of the buildings across five panels in chronological order; Firehouse, Broad Street Store, William’s Restaurant “Known From Maine to Florida”, The Shriner’s Temple (where Elvis performed), and The
Chelsea. This mural showcases the journey through time with the tenants of the Stanly Building and the cultural and nostalgic qualities that The Chelsea has developed into today.

Opening in September of 2023, The Flying Fox is a premiere cocktail bar located at 411 Broad Street, New Bern, NC. Known for their cocktails, dark interior, and live music, Party Animals highlights nightlife in downtown New Bern, featuring a themed twist – animals. This mural depicts an evening scene featuring party goers participating in bar activities offered at The Flying Fox such as pool, enjoying adult beverages, playing live music, and more. Party Animals is located on the back patio of the establishment, featuring 7 animals; a bear, fox, rabbit, barn owl, racoon, flying fox bat, and anole. For foxsake, have a cocktail!

These two new murals are located on the Broad Street side of the Chelsea Restaurant and the back porch of the Flying Fox, both located within walking distance of each other on Broad Street. Visit cravenarts.org for more information on CAC&G’s other public art projects and more.
