Craven Arts Council & Gallery (CAC&G) is proud to present artwork from local watercolor artist Gary Nemcosky for the month of December. The exhibition will showcase Nemcosky’s vibrant watercolor portraits depicted from photos he captures from persons around New Bern, NC and other areas. An opening reception for this exhibition will be held at Artwalk on Friday, December 12th 5 – 8 pm.
Gary Nemcosky is an artist and retired art educator from southeast Virginia. After a stint in the United States Air Force, he attended West Virginia University, learning from Tom Nakashima and Dave Faber. Nemcosky then studied under Paul Hartley, Clarence Morgan and Ed Reep at East Carolina University and then took time for post graduate Art History at the University of Cincinnati for 2 years. He taught in the Art Department at Appalachian State University from 1989 through 2020. For the past 15 years, Nemcosky has focused exclusively on watercolor, often portraying portraits of local residents of New Bern and more. He currently resides in Trent Woods, North Carolina, with his wife and daughter, Ann and Hannah, and dog, Quincy.
