DESCRIPTION:The initial meeting for the Ship Modeling Club being formed in New Bern is Saturday\, January 12th\, 2019 at 1:00 PM.   The club is being hosted by Shop Class\, LLC located at 406 Guion St.\, in New Bern\, NC.\n\nThe purpose is to organize a group of modelers\, to foster an interest in Nautical Heritage by researching and building scale model ships.  This club is for anyone (beginners\, to experienced modelers) who display and have an interest in model ship building to keep the hobby and the art of modeling alive for future generations.  \n\nThe objectives of the club include:\n\n Sharing information on shipbuilding techniques for beginners to experienced modelers utilizing materials of wood\, metal\, resin\, photo-etched\, and plastic.\n\nCommercial kits or scratch-built models\, stages of modeling ship construction from selecting a kit for beginners to advanced layout and scratch building from plans\, or commercial kits of different levels of skill and experience.\n\nShow and tell on various stages of construction or completed models\, current events pertaining to maritime heritage\, workshops and class instructions on how to\, build a model.\n\nOrganize and participate in local shows to stimulate an interest in this art to the public. \n\nGoal is for all members to enjoy the hobby and to get satisfaction of completing and displaying their work in a non-competitive environment and meeting new friends. \n\nFor more information on joining the model group\, please contact:\n\nJim Gower\n\ndavidsym05@yahoo.com\n\nCell: 919-272-7248
